April 2015 Commentary

Quarter One 2015 Commentary

The first quarter ended a volatile three months in decent shape. While the S&P 500 was up slightly, +0.44%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DOW) was down slightly, -0.26%, other indices fared much better. International stocks finished up almost +4%, US small cap stocks up +4% and US mid cap stocks up +5%.

It was a good quarter for bonds too with short and intermediate in positive territory as well as foreign, treasury inflation protected securities (TIPS), bank rate and high yield bonds.

All in all it was a very solid quarter for diversified portfolios and particularly so relative to the S&P 500 and DOW.
